How It Began
The Felician Mission
Sisters Marilyn Minter and Inga are Felician missionaries whose work is rooted in deep faith, resilience, and a commitment to serving those most in need. For over a decade, they have accompanied the Haitian community through profound hardship, building programs that respond directly to local needs. Their efforts include launching a mobile medical clinic that serves over 1,000 people each month in remote mountain regions, establishing a school sponsorship program that supports dozens of children and young adults, and developing initiatives like a sewing school and computer lab that equip individuals with practical skills and opportunities for self sufficiency.
Guided by a mission of empowerment, Sisters Marilyn and Inga have focused on forming local leaders who can sustain and grow these efforts within their own communities. Now, having been approved to return to Jacmel, Haiti, they continue this work alongside the people they serve, strengthening programs that provide healthcare, education, and daily necessities. Their impact is seen not only in the services delivered, but in the lives transformed through dignity, opportunity, and lasting hope.
The Project
A bakery powered by
light and faith.
Despite ongoing violence in Haiti, Sisters Marilyn Minter and Inga continue to press forward with unwavering resolve. In Jacmel, they have begun building a bakery that will serve as both a reliable source of nourishment and a pathway to meaningful employment for local residents. This initiative reflects the heart of their mission, creating opportunities that restore dignity while meeting essential, everyday needs within the community.
Yet Haiti's unreliable electricity presents a serious challenge. Without consistent power, the bakery cannot operate sustainably. Drawing from their experience successfully powering their sewing school with solar energy, the Sisters have identified a clear solution: solar panels that can provide dependable, independent energy.
At this critical moment, the Consuelo Foundation is stepping in to help bring this vision to life. By raising funds to provide solar panels, an inverter, and batteries, the foundation is helping ensure the bakery can operate consistently, offering not just food, but stability, opportunity, and renewed hope for the community it serves.
